Introduction

Spain is one of the founding States of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Since its origins back in 1973, Spain has formed part of the then named “Conference for Security and Cooperation in Europe” (CSCE), and when this became an organization in 1994, its permanent representation was set up in Vienna.

Within the European security context Spanish authorities devote significant attention to SALW and SCA control. With noteworthy experience and specialised skills developed in this area of work Spain provides financial and in-kind support to the OSCE-led assistance efforts across the region.

With multi-year funding and steadfast support Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation enabled the development of this SALW Portal thus ensuring detailed overview of all SALW and SCA assistance projects active across the OSCE region.
